Uintah County, Utah, As of the 2010 census the population was 32,588. Its county seat and largest city is Vernal. The county was named for the portion of the Ute Indian tribe that lived in the basin.

Uintah County is the largest natural gas producer in Utah, with 272 billion cubic feet produced in 2008.

Parks & Nature Edit

  1. Dinosaur National Monument contains over 800 paleontological sites and has fossils of dinosaurs including Allosaurus, Deinonychus, Abydosaurus and various long-neck, long-tail sauropods. A lot of outdoor adventures found here.
  2. Red Fleet State Park featuring a 750-acre reservoir and a fossil trackway of dinosaur footprints.
  3. Steinaker State Park is a recreational reservoir that opened to the public in 1964. It lies at an elevation of 5,500 feet (1,700 m) in northeastern Utah, south of the Uinta Mountains.
